I have been trying a few artistic modifications on some pictures recently, not all shots work, but I think this one pulls it off quite well, providing the colours from the original photo, but less details, leaving only the mountains and distant treeline as a place to focus your eye upon. Instantly your eyes are drawn to the mountains.
I will be making this one available for purchase, $995 @ 800mm x 800mm on canvas, coated and UV treated.

It’s that time of the year again for snow, Mt Wellington has had a few good dumps over the past few weeks, so I thought I’d head up and take a few shots at sunset. Some bettter light would have been better, but still ok.
This was my first official outing with my new 17-40mm f4 L, and it works great
. Nice and sharp.

Lake Wakipu - Queenstown, New Zealand.
The weather over the past few days has been wet and cloudy. So rather that go out to shoot I’ve been playing with Lightroom. I’ve spent some time going back over the past few years to find those shots that are not “keepers”, but very close to see if Lightroom can do some magic to get it over the line.
While in New Zealand last year I took some shots of Lake Waktipu ( Queenstown ). The amount of stars visible is amazing, The above shot would have been perfect with less cloud and maybe an ND Grad over the stars with a slightly longer exposure to bring out the lake and mountains. However Lightroom has done a fairly good job to recover some details.

It’s a good thing I don’t have a camera at the moment, because the weather has been shocking in Hobart over recent weeks. Weeks of overcast skies and rain. Is summer really here?
My 5d Mark 2 is on order and I can’t wait for it to arrive, finally some full frame goodness
I can’t wait to see the results using the 16-35L to it’s full potential, 24mm on a 1.6x body is just not the same.
The above picture was taken on my old 40D with the 16-35mm L.
I’m expecting big things Mr Canon….

Planet Snow, originally uploaded by BrendanDavey.
I decided to head out again this afternoon and take some more snow picture, after the last filter disaster.
Winter this year has been really good in Tasmania. There was so much more snow than normal, in some places they had cut through 2 meters of snow to uncover the road.
The new hi-tech filters I purchased are working great. This shot was taken with my 16-35L. I really wish I had a full frame body…. soon maybe…
I’ve added this picture to the store, in A3 and A2 format.
